In either case Mass Effect 2 will not run and/or stop runningĤ) If you play games that require newer versoins of PhysX then you will need to uninstall Physx and reinstall PhysX_SystemSoftware every time that you want to play Mass Effect 2, and then reinstall newer PhysX whenever you switch back to your newer games so, I recommend that you keep a copy of both PhysX_SystemSoftware and whatever newer version you need somewhere on your Hard Drive in case you need to juggle them for these reasons. I know it's supposed to keep my saves, but of course some weird bug would hit me.To Fully Clarify both the Problem and the Solutionġ) PhysX drivers WILL NOT negitively effect a non-NVidia card since the software itself does not focus on the Graphics cardĢ) If you do not have an nVidia Card, and you are getting the Physx update error when trying to Run Mass Effect 2 you must uninstall any version of PhysX you have (even if other games require it) and install PhysX_SystemSoftware which is found in the software folder of Disc 2 of Mass Effect 2 (or possibly online somewhere)ģ) If you try to update to or already have newer versions of PhysX, the version that is required by Mass Effect 2 will either be overwritten, or otherwise refuse to install because it detects a newer version. Last option is reinstalling but I'm terrified of losing my progress. starts up with no issues.Įdit: OK great I restarted again and now the launcher refuses to start. I even tried to start ME1 after all this. Tried running as administrator, tried windowed mode. I've updated windows, restarted, and restarted again.

No button is clickable and I have to kill the program. If I click on "start" or "resume" the screen fades black as if it worked, then the launcher screen comes back frozen. I've finished ME1 and halfway through ME2 in the Legendary Edition. It's as if launching the game is slowly getting more and more broken. So something is bugged out with starting the launcher, but this workaround will do for now.Įdit 3: workaround no longer works.

After these 4 game attempts, I try playing Halo MCC and Destiny 2. I click Play, Origin opens up, the Mass Effect launcher shows up on the taskbar, but then the launcher disappears. It even brought up the MELE launcher first, and no problems there. Then I try to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Steam. Edit 2: problem temporarily solved! I found mass effect 2.exe in the steamapps download folder and the game launched fine from there.
